Weighted Average Rating Index (WAR Index) … still in Beta Test.
In simple terms, the WAR Index answers one question:
“How much better is this player than a realistic, available alternative in the same position?”
Most rankings just show who has the highest projected points. The WAR Index goes further. It compares each player against a replacement level baseline (a solid but ordinary option you could actually use) and measures the extra value they are currently providing.
A high WAR score means the player is delivering meaningful upside relative to what you could replace them with. A low or negative score suggests the premium (or even the mid-price) is not justified right now.
The model looks at:
- Current form and underlying output
- Fixture context
- Price and ownership
- Availability and minutes risk
Use it when you are deciding between two similar players, or when you want to know whether a popular name is still worth the money.
The WAR Index is updated regularly and is designed to work alongside the Fixture Value Index.
